New British Record for Diesel car. Captain George Eyston driving in pouring rain a streamlined car with a diesel (oil) engine similar to those fitted in many London buses broke the World’s diesel engined car record of 100.75 mph held by an American by travelling at an average speed of 104.86 mph and on one run for the kilometre the car reached a speed of 106.647 mph at Brooklands track Weybridge Surrey 27-10-1933.
